We are able to resolve differences
to confront injustices
to stand together after healing
the healing of truth
speaking frankly, as needed
able to reconcile
to be made whole once again
if of equal power
sisters and brothers together
each part of the body of Christ
airing grievances, differences
hurts openly, releasing the cost, the pain
healing in forgiveness, in honesty
together going forward
in greater unity than before

James 3:1-18
Matthew 5:24
and second in a two-part sermon series entitled
“Sensitivity Training II: When Church Folk Don’t Get Along.”
Peter said he “was not preaching this sermon because we are having difficulty with this issue. I am preaching it because I firmly believe the best time to consider matters such as this is when tensions are not high and we can reflect on good spiritual practices that can keep our relationships healthy. The middle part of Matthew 18 offers a good plan for conflict resolution.”
