Something of irony
God making a statement
that lowly shepherds
who be the first to see Jesus
Not the upper crust
not even normal merchants
choosing shepherds
to be the first to see Jesus
Yet, how appropriate
something to consider
God in his mercy
coming as a shepherd
The line of David
the patriarchs of old
all of these shepherds
in their lives the story told
God chose shepherds
to be the first to come before Jesus
reminding us of his servanthood
to heal our brokenness
