Not poles on a line
static and unchanging
a yes or a no
in black and white

Not even arcs of a circle
me in the center,
segmenting time
places where spokes alight

Points on a sphere
ever turning,
moving like a ball
rolling across an uneven floor

Such are the choices
my identifies, roles moving
not either or
but yes to them all

as poet, attorney, Christian,
husband, son, father, neighbor,
friend, etc.
