The righteous, the leaders
the ones closest to God
priests, scribes, Pharisees
the elders of the people
supposed to know the law
These who should recognize
to know him in their midst
the ones who study the scripture
the promises of God
unable to see the prophecy
the fulfillment
Christ there in their midst
Condemning God’s son
standing before them
that they would
hold on to their power
denying the people
freedom from their sin
holding on to the law instead
