From His Words, Action - Poem by Raymond A. Foss

Not knowing this stranger
but doing as he commanded
taking the boat out onto the sea
sitting at his feet while he preached
the crowd on the shore to see

Going out to deeper waters
as the master commanded
doing just as he said
a catch abundant, bursting the nets
aware something was different indeed

Trying to send away Jesus
bowing at his feet
aware of how far below
we are from this preacher
from God alone
knowing the depth of our sin

But again a different answer
not judging but hope
calling them to his task
leaving the fish on the shore
going when he commanded,
come, follow me.
