The loving, one-sided promise of God
for all who have come after
never again to wipe clean the earth
to wash the world with a flood

Long before the patriarchs
the covenants, made with blood
the loving creator
understanding our state
giving us forgiveness, life

A promise never to take out his wrath
to wipe out all of mankind
within this the seeds of the love of God
giving us more than we deserve
