In the awakening
the moving from Advent to Christmas
the fact of the fulfillment
Emmanuel born in Bethlehem
God, come down to earth,
laid in a manger
as a vulnerable baby

Walking this earth
a man, though divine
suffering as we do
the temptations of the world
Journeying as a servant
to God’s mighty plan
serving the poor, the sick
teaching of God’s wondrous love

Going the way of the servant
even unto death
Climbing the cross for our sin
the perfect sacrifice
Dying that we may live
clear of the stain of our sin
Rising that we may rise
to our eternal home once again
