Like manna, provided in the desert
the people instructed, told to get just enough
When they hoarded, more than was needed
the excess turned to mold, spoiling in their hands
In the words of the gospel, a story as of old
the rich man and his barn overflowing
wanting more and more, never satisfied
Spoiled, useful wealth,
when God came calling
more than he needed,
what should have been given away
