The row of toothbrushes
their heads, like the Porch of the Maidens
that image of their marvel,
seen so long ago
Sitting in there
on the sink edge, stoic
so like their silent strong sisters
each standing gracefully
serene witnesses
ever so purposely

seeing this morning a flash of an
image from my Humanities class
of 1976-1977 in my mind’s eye
seeing the electric toothbrushes
of the girls this morning
in the bathroom -
