A Shimmering Line by Raymond A. Foss
The light of the moon a shimmering line across the skin of the lake rising and falling, undulating toward the horizon the rays of the full moon perpendicular to my path cutting silently, or nearly so, through the water a whisper of the hull only the lapping of the waves on my left tracing the edge of the lake shrouded in darkening night dance of the striders, the water beetles giddy on the surface all in sepia tints, tones, or so the scene remains in my memory
