Surely, not I, slyly, smugly
said he who was, who was to betray
As if still not understanding
who it was he was addressing
unable to discern,
a heart hardened by greed,
by his own cause.
Not knowing the truth
of who He was.
Failing to comprehend
ever after his ministry
the purposes of God.
For a few small coins
crucifying our Lord.
