Christ’s own example
sharing his body, his blood,
with all of them at the table
with those who would rage,
those who ran, denying him
even with him who would betray
the bread, the cup, his new covenant
open to all, all welcome at his table
this table, this holy mystery
offered by our Lord
mere remembrance
in our ritual, our faith
remembering your mighty acts
your ultimate sacrifice
your living grace
