Humbly, gratefully
approaching the table
the table prepared by the Lord
the bread, the cup, reminders
his sacrifice, in words,
symbols we can understand
coming, each one of us,
unworthy, by our acts
worthy by God’s gift
by his grace alone
coming forward to your altar rail
on my knees to accept your offering
all of us equally sinful
equally needing your love, your grace
