Is He Joshua - Poem by Raymond A. Foss

A thought, a hesitant prayer,
a question on many lips this day
Is he Joshua, the one to come down
from the lofty mountaintop
the vantage given by God
to see the promised land

Is he the one who is to lead the people
to cross over, into that new day,
that land promised by God, to his people
to lead us, together, to a new day,
a land reborn, with riches, compassion
true equality; black and white, young and old
rich and poor, all equal
“Yes, together we ask, Is he Joshua?”
