The human Christ, the king on earth
a servant, a sacrifice, after
the transfiguration on the mountainside
the prayers in the Garden
the cup to his lips,
falling under the authority
of the empire,
the instrument of our saving
suffering under the hands
of leaders, of their agents
in the holy lands
A week after the parade
the palms, riding the donkey,
the pain and humiliation
of the crown and the cross
