“The Jordan River is muddy and cold, chills the body but not the soul”, or so said our songs in our youth; but more, it was the right place the right place in the wilderness for John’s strong voice, for the chosen people, for the fulfillment, the passage, the beginning of the journey of our Savior in ministry to this broken world
It was the place for the people the bridge, the passageway from Exodus to the promised land from the ways of their past to new life after the cleansing, the washing away of the old the infusing of the spirit The turning from doubt, that kept them in the wilderness that brought them home that brings us home still through the water
