a cluster of open milkweed pods brown flat seeds, a ball of cotton candy silk waiting for the wind, to catch the currents to fly like gossamer sails across the blue fall sky twirl and arc heavenward in the blustery gusts pulses of air of the autumn breezes, with hints of smoke, smell of apples, of wet leaves, before their decay pregnant pods, waiting to burst scatter their harvest, their children to the wiles of the wind
