In my driveway,
You in your car.
Moments after our passion

Your face wore a softness
I hadn’t seen before.

Stripped of concern.
Years of compromise and hurt gone.

A smile on your face,
Warm and broad.
Flushed cheeks,
Words of love.

Promises made and kept.
Parting now but
Hope risen.
