Yard Salad by Raymond A. Foss
With an old newspaper for a plate and water from the hose for dressing
Four junior chefs, three to ten, yanked and threshed a yard salad from the rain drenched and shower fed field beside our in-town home
Clover, dandelion, plantain and grasses of varying length, with dirt included bodily, heaped on the makeshift platter, stirred with pine and oak, until they were ready for the presentation
